Dominion Energy improves life safety for 78,000 homes with Victaulic

Dominion Energy, a major electricity supplier, sought to improve life safety at its Elizabeth River Power Station. The facility was using older fire suppression systems that, if discharged, could create a potentially deadly situation for personnel. To address this challenge, Dominion Energy partnered with Victaulic to install the Victaulic Vortex™ Hybrid Fire Extinguishing System.

Victaulic implemented its Vortex™ system to protect three key enclosures at the power station. A full discharge test was conducted in partnership with the contractor, Fireline Corporation, to verify the system's effectiveness in controlling oxygen levels. The solution utilized bulk tanks for the nitrogen supply, which minimized the system's footprint and provided maintenance advantages. The installation by Victaulic successfully improved life safety at the facility.
