Vicon’s Valerus Delivers Performance and Value to Chattanooga’s Play Dog eXcellent

Play Dog eXcellent, a Chattanooga dog daycare, boarding and training facility that serves an average of 120 dogs per day (peaking over 160), needed to upgrade an aging analog surveillance system to eliminate perimeter blind spots, reliably identify individual dogs, and enable easy video search for security, management and training — all on a tight budget. Vicon was selected (with installer Meyers Security) to provide the upgrade using its Valerus video management platform.

Vicon integrated eight existing analog cameras and six new IP 4 MP HD cameras into Valerus via a video encoder and added two 12 MP 360° cameras to cover the arena (replacing what would have required 8–10 fixed units), allowing browser- and mobile-based viewing and playback. The Vicon solution closed blind spots, made individual dogs visually identifiable, reduced hardware, licensing and installation costs, enabled identification of a vehicle involved in parking-lot vandalism, and provided searchable video for staff coaching — delivering measurable security and operational improvements within months.
