Seeking Surveillance Capabilities to Match their Security Objectives, Delaware Valley School District Invests in a Complete IP Upgrade

Delaware Valley School District faced an aging DVR-based surveillance system that left administrators with blind spots, low-resolution footage and no unified way to view or search video across seven schools and nine buildings. Seeking better identification of faces and license plates, flexible access for its six-person school police force, and easier forensic searching, the district engaged Vicon and its Valerus VMS along with IQeye Alliance and Vicon Cruiser cameras to meet those security objectives.

Vicon implemented an end-to-end Valerus solution with local Valerus servers/NVRs, a dedicated security network (CAT-6 and fiber), and about 400 mostly 3MP IQeye Alliance cameras plus Cruiser domes with 30X zoom, installed March–summer 2017. The Valerus thin-client interface provides unified management from workstations and mobile devices, eliminated prior blind spots, enabled license-plate and face identification, and has already helped solve thefts and other incidents — delivering measurable improvements in coverage and investigative capability across the district.
