A Vicon Case Study
Louisa County Public Schools needed a more resilient, easy-to-manage video system after a 2011 crisis highlighted gaps in emergency response and evidence gathering. The rural district — serving about 4,600 students — wanted a solution its own technicians could install and maintain, with mobile access for local law enforcement. They chose Vicon and the Vicon Valerus Video Management Solution to meet those requirements.
Vicon phased in Valerus with nearly 400 cameras across six school buildings, enabling in-house staff to configure and troubleshoot the system while the County Sheriff monitors live video from laptops, iPads and smartphones. The deployment delivered measurable benefits: district-wide coverage of six schools, routine use of Valerus’ search tools (used at least weekly), clearer video exports for court, fewer site visits to check conditions, and real-time health monitoring — all improving response times and operational efficiency.
