Dell SonicWALL needed a cost-effective way to prove the single sign-on (SSO) scalability of its SuperMassive E10800 firewall platform to at least 50,000 unique, concurrent endpoints. To meet this challenge, Dell selected VIAVI Solutions and its TeraVM virtual test platform because it could accurately emulate large-scale Windows SSO client behavior without requiring thousands of physical devices.

VIAVI Solutions used TeraVM to emulate 50,000 stateful SSO clients, each with unique IP and MAC addresses and unique login credentials, while also generating real application traffic such as HTTP, VoIP, and email. The solution validated SuperMassive E10800 scalability to 50,000 end users and beyond, helped Dell profile user activity for realistic load scenarios, and eliminated the need for proprietary test hardware by running on standard Dell PowerEdge R720 servers.
