Brno University of Technology, a leading technical university in the Czech Republic, sought to provide its students with practical, real-world instruction in network analysis and troubleshooting. To achieve this, the university's Department of Telecommunications chose to integrate VIAVI Solutions' Observer Performance Management Platform and Observer Analyzer into its curriculum to serve as the primary tool for its laboratory exercises.

VIAVI Solutions provided the Observer platform, which was used to structure laboratory exercises into three main groups: introducing basic network monitoring tools, performing short and long-term trend and error analysis, and capturing and decoding network traffic. The solution was so effective and popular with students that the university plans to expand its use into complex WLAN analysis and quality of service testing. The practical exercises using VIAVI's tools have successfully prepared students to deal with real-world networking issues.
