A VFA Case Study
Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) manages about 59 aging facilities across Virginia and needed a consistent way to assess conditions, estimate repair costs, and justify future funding needs. With VFA, the department sought a clearer, more objective process for planning capital reinvestment and presenting facility priorities to the Virginia General Assembly.
VFA delivered detailed facility condition assessments for five mid- to large-size facilities and provided its web-based capital planning software, VFA.facility®, along with a vulnerability and security assessment pilot at one site. As a result, VADOC gained accurate, defensible data to build a capital improvement plan, including cost estimates for deferred maintenance, renovation, and replacement, and can now better prioritize projects and quantify budget requests.
