Making the Case for Funding Facility Infrastructure Improvements at UMass Medical School

The University of Massachusetts Medical School, a fast-growing academic health center, needed a better way to evaluate aging facilities and justify infrastructure funding for its more than two million square feet of space. Its challenge was to move beyond in-house deficiency lists and support capital requests with objective, detailed data; it selected VFA for facility condition assessment services and capital planning software.

VFA delivered a prioritized assessment of deficiencies with industry-standard cost estimates and Facility Condition Index metrics, giving UMMS a clearer view of renewal needs and financial priorities. As a result, UMMS gained the data to plan increased funding for system improvements and equipment renewals, helping it support “100 percent service” and target funds without disrupting operations.
