A VFA Case Study
Brewster Academy, a small independent high school in New Hampshire, needed to make a stronger case for increased capital funding for its 500,000-square-foot campus. With only one Facilities Director managing a million-dollar operating budget and limited capital funds, the school lacked the hard data needed to convince leadership and the Board to invest more strategically. VFA provided the tools and support, including VFA.auditor and VFA.facility, to help address that challenge.
Using VFA, Brewster Academy built a five- to ten-year capital improvement plan by collecting condition data on campus buildings, estimating lifecycle costs, and uploading the results into a cloud-based analysis and reporting system. The solution helped Dan Noyes quickly assess facilities, create templates for future surveys, and prioritize projects with what-if scenarios and FCI analysis. Brewster Academy expects immediate savings through updated insurance replacement costs and lower premiums, while VFA’s data-driven planning also supports stronger capital requests and helps reduce the risk of costly emergency repairs.
