Case Study: Xunta De Galicia improves real-time wildfire response with Vexiza

The Xunta de Galicia faced the immense challenge of coordinating a large, multi-faceted firefighting operation in a region that accounts for nearly half of Spain's burnt forest area. They needed a spatial vision to analyze complex emergency situations and facilitate effective decision-making for managers and technicians. Vexiza was engaged to help manage and evolve the fire management system for the Forest Fire Prevention and Defense Service (SPDIF).

Vexiza implemented a solution using GIS technology, integrating the existing video surveillance network that covers over 60% of Galician territory into their XenoCode system. This provided a 360-degree real-time view of emergencies, allowing technicians to geolocate resources and identify points from camera feeds directly on a map. They also developed the mobile app XenoCode Lite to agilely design operative maps with meeting points and fire breaks. The result was a system that connected decision-making with real-time data from thousands of resources, successfully handling fires throughout the 2019 season.
