Case Study: MINI achieves $15M in savings and stronger teamwork with Vetter

A Vetter Case Study

Preview of the MINI Case Study

Employee Suggestion Program success Mini's $15mn savings + team-work boosted

MINI’s Cowley plant launched an internally built Employee Suggestion Program to capture frontline improvement ideas, shift from a directive management style to autonomous team working, and boost engagement and efficiency. Vetter is a vendor that offers a smarter Employee Suggestion Program tool to help organizations gather and evaluate more ideas; MINI did not use Vetter’s system, but their experience illustrates the potential of a well-run suggestion program.

Vetter’s solution is a tool for collecting, prioritizing and evaluating employee ideas; when combined with the right management practices (MINI made suggestions mandatory and set aside review time), it can drive measurable impact. MINI’s scheme produced over 14,000 suggestions in 24 months, with 11,000 taken forward and $15 million in savings for BMW, while improving teamwork and manager–worker dynamics and coinciding with record global sales for the MINI brand.
