SparkMeter builds pre-production IoT hardware in 7.5 months with Very

SparkMeter, a company providing grid-management solutions to microgrid utilities, needed a way for its utility operators to remotely access critical energy usage data and manage customer accounts. To solve this challenge, they partnered with hardware and software engineering vendor Very to develop a new IoT device and supporting system.

Very designed and built custom hardware with backup power and removable storage, a robust firmware system using Nerves, and a backend service using Elixir and Phoenix. The solution, which communicates data efficiently via MQTT and AWS, was delivered as a fully validated pre-production unit in just seven and a half months. This allowed SparkMeter to prepare for a full product launch, enabling utility operators in remote locations worldwide to effectively manage their systems.
