Koller Products launches the first connected aquarium in 12 weeks with Very

Koller Products, a manufacturer of desktop aquariums, partnered with the vendor Very to overcome the challenge of bringing the first internet-connected fish tank to market. Other companies had attempted this IoT product for years without success, and Koller needed a partner with expertise in hardware engineering, firmware, and custom mobile app development to finally deliver a viable product and gain a first-mover advantage.

Very implemented the solution by conducting a Technical Design Sprint to prioritize features for a minimum marketable product, which included temperature sensing and dynamic lighting controls. They developed the IoT hardware, firmware, and a cross-platform mobile app using React Native, C++, and Elixir. As a result, Very delivered the iOS app on time and on budget, ported it to Android, and helped Koller become the first to market with a connected aquarium. The client was able to launch a robust product that competitors with larger budgets had failed to deliver.
