Google launches Flutter Forward Holobooth in January 2023 with Very Good Ventures

Very Good Ventures partnered with Google to create an interactive, machine learning-powered photo booth experience called Holobooth. The challenge was to develop a virtual demo that effectively showcased the capabilities of Google's Flutter framework and TensorFlow for the Flutter Forward event, requiring real-time facial detection and an engaging user experience.

The solution implemented by Very Good Ventures utilized TensorFlow.js for facial detection and Rive for high-performance animations, allowing user expressions to be mirrored by on-screen avatars in real time. They integrated Firebase for generating and sharing user-created GIFs on social media and built the project with a scalable architecture using Very Good CLI. The successful Holobooth demo was featured at the January 2023 event, and its code was open-sourced, marking a significant step in integrating machine learning with Flutter.
