HC3 is a customer communications provider for banks, credit unions and healthcare organizations that processes large volumes of sensitive PII in print and digital documents. To avoid retaining high‑risk fields—specifically Social Security Numbers and 16‑digit card numbers—HC3 partnered with Very Good Security and adopted Very Good Security’s Zero Data platform, using tokenization and aliasing services.

Very Good Security tokenized and aliased sensitive numbers so HC3 can store and present documents identified by SSN or card number without ever holding the original values. As a result HC3 has descoped those specific pieces of PII from its systems, removed credit card and SSN data from web‑facing machines, reduced compliance risk, and gained the operational “peace of mind” of not retaining high‑risk customer data.
