Case Study: RunSignUp achieves strengthened payment security and accelerated compliance with Very Good Security

A Very Good Security Case Study

Preview of the RunSignUp Case Study

How Run Sign-up Goes Beyond PCI Compliance with Multi-layer Security

RunSignUp, a leading technology provider for endurance races and ticketed events serving over 7 million participants annually, needed a multi-layer security approach that went beyond basic PCI compliance. They sought a vault service that could ingest already-encrypted credit card streams, store and retrieve payment data without ever exposing originals, and be simple for their development team to integrate. To meet this challenge they turned to Very Good Security (VGS) and its vault/tokenization platform.

Very Good Security implemented its VGS vault and tokenization APIs to securely store encrypted payment data, replace sensitive fields with non-relational tokens, and separate payment records from user profiles. The integration—supported by clear documentation and a management dashboard—secured data at rest and in motion, reduced RunSignUp’s risk and liability, and accelerated compliance with regulations such as PCI-DSS, CCPA, and GDPR, while preserving the ability to process and retrieve payment information without exposing raw card data.
