Case Study: Honk eliminates PCI burden and reclaims engineering time with Very Good Security

A Very Good Security Case Study

Preview of the HONK Case Study

Providing safe, simple contactless parking payments

HONK, a North American leader in touch-free parking payments (HonkAPP, HonkKIO, HonkTAP), faced mounting operational friction as it shifted from merchant to service provider: in-house PCI DSS maintenance consumed engineering time, and vendor lock-in limited payment gateway flexibility. To solve this, HONK partnered with Very Good Security (VGS) and adopted the VGS Platform (including VGS Multiplexing) to replace their homegrown PCI solution.

Very Good Security intercepted and aliased HONK’s payment data, assumed PCI obligations with an always-on compliance model, and enabled connections to multiple processors through VGS Multiplexing. The move eliminated HONK’s compliance burden and vendor lock-in, reclaiming the equivalent of two engineers for roughly two months per year and delivering an extra 2–3 months of development time—accelerating product feature work and market expansion.
