Building a platform to provide Security-as-a-Service. Delivering streaming-in security related data for processing

Booking.com needed to scale real-time processing of security-related data while enforcing multi-tenancy and strict separation of duties across security teams. Orchestrating many stateful Apache Flink applications with reliable, low-friction upgrades had become an operational burden when managed with Helm charts and shell scripts. To solve this, Booking.com adopted Ververica and the Ververica Platform.

Ververica Platform provided a Kubernetes-native, multi-tenant orchestration layer with a Web UI, abstracted snapshot management and built-in HA for Flink, enabling Booking.com to present Flink lifecycle management as a service. The results: Booking.com now manages about 250 Flink applications (vs. 10–20 before), cut deployment and stateful upgrade times from hours (or ~20 minutes per job) to 1–4 minutes (upgrades now take only a couple of minutes), reduced operational toil and staffing needs, and gained faster expert support and faster troubleshooting thanks to Ververica.
