Teletext - Customer Case Study

Teletext, the UK’s premier electronic information provider reaching up to 18 million people a week, had rapidly grown from 180 to 350 staff and was operating 160 HP ProLiant servers at its West London office plus 100 at a Docklands disaster‑recovery site. Outgrowing a patchwork of analogue KVMs, Teletext needed secure, controlled 24/7 remote access, reduced rack space and cabling, and faster response across two locations, and selected Vertiv’s Avocent solution to meet those needs.

Vertiv implemented the Avocent DSR2161 KVM over IP switching solution with DSView management software, giving administrators click‑and‑connect remote access, multi‑server monitoring and local rack access when required for all 160 production and 100 DR servers. The Vertiv Avocent deployment removed excess hardware and cabling, reduced travel time and support costs, improved security by limiting physical access, and lowered rack space and air‑conditioning costs while enabling round‑the‑clock administration.
