Telefónica’s communications switch at Celta Trade Park in Funza, Colombia was experiencing rising cooling energy consumption and increasing preventative/corrective maintenance costs while pursuing corporate targets to cut energy use and carbon. Telefónica engaged Vertiv to deliver an efficient data‑center cooling upgrade using Vertiv’s patented Super Saver System, including a Liebert® FB4075 ring‑topology chiller, 12 CRAH/handling units, SmartAisle™ cold‑aisle containment and I‑COM™ controls.

Vertiv implemented cold‑aisle containment, CRAH updates with remote rack temperature control, redundancy valves and a free‑cooling‑capable chiller, with the Super Saver System optimizing fan speeds, water flow and chiller operation. The deployment cut cooling power from 68 kW/h to 41 kW/h (about 40% energy savings), harnessed free‑cooling benefits, reduced maintenance costs and delivered a return on investment in under three years.
