POWERGEAR - Customer Case Study

POWERGEAR, a leading electrical equipment manufacturer, needed a thermal management solution for its unmanned, steel pre-fabricated container housing batteries, power distribution and PV-microgrid equipment. The densely packed enclosure required 24x7 precision cooling with no standby units (space-constrained), strict temperature and humidity control (25 °C ±1 °C and 50% ±5% RH), zero hot spots, verification of an estimated 88,000 W heat load, and rapid deployment within eight weeks. Vertiv was engaged to provide a Precision Air Conditioning solution to meet these constraints.

Vertiv designed and deployed a standalone Precision Air Conditioning system using a Liebert PDX series 120 kW DX unit paired with a Liebert HCR condenser, sized for ~30 TR cooling and ~21,000 CMH airflow after HAP and U‑factor analysis that confirmed a sensible heat ratio (SHR) of 1. The Vertiv solution delivered the required airflow and SHR, maintained a conditioned 24x7 environment with mobility for relocation, eliminated hot spots, and met the customer’s eight‑week timetable—ensuring continuous operation and protecting POWERGEAR’s critical equipment.
