Preview of the Electricity and Natural Gas Provider Case Study

Power and Energy Company Saves Time and Money With Fully Integrated Battery Testing and Monitoring Solution

Electricity and Natural Gas Provider, a power and energy company serving 7 million customers in 14 states, needed a faster, safer way to perform discharge testing across more than 1,000 battery strings to maintain NERC compliance and better understand battery capacity and performance. The provider had worked with Vertiv for over a decade and sought a solution that would simplify testing without hundreds of temporary lead connections.

Vertiv deployed the Albér Battery Capacity Testing Interface (BCTI) integrated with the existing Albér Universal Xplorer Industrial Monitor (UXIME), Albér Continuous Load Unit (CLU) and Albér ELS2, enabling capacity tests with just two connections (one to the load bank and one to the monitor). The Vertiv solution delivers 24x7 data collection and remote alarms, eliminates the need for external contractors, reduces testing time and connections across the company’s 1,000+ battery strings, improves safety, and streamlines NERC PRC‑005 compliance by centrally storing data and providing periodic reporting.
