Pier DC - Customer Case Study

Pier DC is a co‑location data centre in Canning Vale, Western Australia, designed to Uptime Institute Tier III standards. Facing a challenge to meet aggressive energy‑efficiency targets (PUE <1.45) and ASHRAE environmental limits while guaranteeing 100% cooling availability, Pier DC selected Vertiv to provide an integrated cooling solution.

Vertiv deployed its Liebert AFC chilled‑water system (alongside Liebert CRV units, racks, MPH2 PDUs and Liebert iCOM controls) using adiabatic freecooling with multi‑scroll compressor backup and predictive control logic. The Vertiv solution delivered 100% cooling availability within 70 seconds of power loss and up to 43.6°C ambient, reduced chiller footprint and genset sizing, and helped Pier DC improve on its initial PUE targets while lowering operating costs through intelligent water‑and‑power optimization.
