A Vertiv Case Study
Monash University, a leading research university in Melbourne with over 70,000 students, was facing rising IT loads, cooling inefficiencies and small outages from water leakage that threatened data centre availability. To address these challenges, Vertiv deployed the Trellis™ Thermal System Manager along with leak-rope detection and wireless temperature/humidity sensors to modernize and centralize environmental monitoring.
Vertiv’s solution—wireless telemetry feeding into the Trellis™ platform—gave Monash real-time 3D thermal maps, threshold alarms, and capacity planning tools to balance cooling and predict impacts of changes. The outcome: measurable downward trends in power consumption, elimination of costly third‑party environmental audits, significant reductions in cabling costs, improved change management and reduced downtime, enabling better asset-level decisions and longer equipment life.
