Leading International Retailing Company - Customer Case Study

Leading International Retailing Company, a global retailer with around 10,000 stores and an online shopping service, needed standardised, reliable and energy‑efficient IT infrastructure across data centres, warehouses and store edge locations to avoid checkout or storage failures and potential data loss. They selected Vertiv as the partner to supply, customise and globally manage integrated server racks, PDUs and cooling solutions (including Knürr DCM racks, Vertiv MPX PDUs and Liebert DCL) and to provide the vendor’s global service network.

Vertiv delivered customised, standardised rack systems and integrated PDUs/cooling—installing roughly 250 racks and 500 PDUs in the main data centre, 20 racks and 40 PDUs in warehouses, and 2–8 racks per store—configured and pre‑integrated in Germany and deployed with global project management. The solution enabled remote monitoring and simplified maintenance, ensured UPS compatibility and operation up to 60°C, reduced footprint and complexity, achieved about 25% energy savings and projected roughly €45,000 saved over ten years for ~100 PDUs, and set the retailer up for further expansion.
