Leading Global Technology Company engaged Vertiv after a 2015 data centre reorganisation and offshore IT relocation left its Sydney facility with much lower IT load, aging cooling plant and unclear energy inefficiencies. Vertiv was brought in to assess and optimise the room using its eCap™ Energy Optimisation Service and, where required, Liebert® PEX 30KW CRAC units to address end-of-life 63KW CRACs and meet the company’s sustainability goals.

Vertiv conducted a two-hour walkthrough followed by metering & verification, airflow management retrofits and CRAC commissioning—replacing two 63KW units with Liebert PEX 30KW units and applying the eCap™ optimisation. Metered results showed average daily data centre consumption fell from 1,325.20 kWh to 926.13 kWh (a 32.5% reduction, described as “up to 33%”), cooling consumption reductions exceeded initial estimates and, after 30 days of tuning, Vertiv recorded up to a 65% fall in certain cooling loads; the project also delivered about $20,000 in energy saving certificates and potential annual savings of up to $16,000.
