A Vertiv Case Study
Leading Global Internet Service Providing Company operates a 24/7/365 business where 100% availability is expected, yet many of its data center sites are not staffed around the clock and house a heterogeneous mix of equipment (servers, storage, Cisco and Juniper switches, tape libraries). To address the operational, staffing and cost challenges of managing legacy and multi-vendor systems, the company standardized on Vertiv’s Avocent ACS Advanced Console Server Platform for remote management and guaranteed connectivity.
Vertiv’s Avocent ACS solution provided out-of-band and in-band remote access, rack PDU integration for remote power cycling, and Linux shell scripting for automation and fault analysis, reducing administrative overhead and IP address use while enabling early detection alerts and locked unused power ports. As a result, the customer achieved faster diagnosis and repairs across its multi-tenant data centers, measurable cost savings (fewer IP addresses, reduced staffing needs) and demonstrated reliability (some appliances have run more than 10 years without reboot), delivering improved uptime and lower operational cost with Vertiv.
