A Vertiv Case Study
The Leading Broadband Service Provider in Malaysia, a major Southeast Asian ISP offering up to 1Gbps and data centre services, needed to expand upstream bandwidth but faced power and infrastructure constraints. Increasing capacity required more power, yet the new server room on the second floor — about 50 meters from the ground-floor power room — made traditional -48V DC impractical due to cabling complexity, high voltage drop and limited floor space. Vertiv was engaged and recommended its NetSure HVDC solution.
Vertiv implemented the NetSure™ HVDC 400V series, providing high-voltage DC distribution with integrated monitoring and redundancy to reduce conversions, cabling and footprint. The deployment delivered measurable results: approximately 80% reduction in cabling/current versus -48V DC and up to 85% footprint savings, along with CapEx and OpEx reductions (including conversion-efficiency gains), improved power quality and lower distribution losses — enabling cost-effective capacity expansion. Vertiv notes this was the first NetSure HVDC deployment in Southeast Asia.
