German Climate Computing Centre (DKRZ) - Customer Case Study

The German Climate Computing Center (DKRZ) needed a reliable, low‑TCO power solution to support its new high‑performance mainframe, Mistral, whose energy draw can swing by as much as 50% in fractions of a second. DKRZ selected Vertiv and its Liebert Trinergy Cube UPS after a tender focused on efficiency, environmental impact and total cost of ownership.

Vertiv delivered a modular Liebert Trinergy Cube system of six 400 kVA modules (2,400 kVA) with dynamic three‑mode operation, achieving a yearly average efficiency of 98.5%, lower energy losses and significant CO2 savings. Vertiv handled testing (including witness tests at its Customer Experience Centre), installation, commissioning and a Preferred Warranty with 24/7 support, enabling failure‑free operation of Mistral, reduced operating costs and a lower overall TCO for DKRZ.
