Dimension Data, working with its customer Internet Solutions, needed to rapidly expand data center capacity in Johannesburg to serve booming, data-enabled businesses across Africa rather than relying on distant hubs. The challenge was to deliver a world-class, highly reliable and flexible Tier III facility that could be deployed quickly and perform efficiently in a challenging market. Vertiv provided a prefabricated modular data center solution, including Vertiv power systems (Liebert Trinergy Cube UPS), room cooling, SmartAisle containment and control, and advanced Lithium Ion batteries.

Vertiv prefabricated, integrated and tested the facility in Europe, shipped it in 12 shippable units and reassembled it on site—delivering a 120-rack installation (expandable to 286 racks) that was ready for testing in under six weeks. The Vertiv solution delivered scalable, future-proof infrastructure, reduced operational expenses through lithium-ion batteries, and provided a low‑risk, on‑time, on‑budget rollout with ongoing local support for operations.
