A Vertiv Case Study
A. James Clark School of Engineering faced a 25-year-old data center that could not meet future IT growth needs for efficiency, availability and space utilization. Vertiv assessed the incrementally built infrastructure and recommended SmartAisle technologies, reconfiguring the room into a single row of high-density service racks in a hot-aisle/cold-aisle layout and deploying a Liebert® CRV cooling system with Liebert iCOM controls.
Vertiv’s solution consolidated equipment and optimized cooling and airflow, enabling the college to nearly double its available data center space and provide enough cooling to double server capacity for resource‑intensive applications. The project preserved efficiency and availability while delivering a measurable 5.5% improvement in power usage effectiveness (PUE).
