Cupiagua Field Uses Precision Cooling for Energy Savings and Improved Availability

Cupiagua field, an oil and gas site in Aguazul, Casanare, Colombia producing about 7,000–8,000 barrels per day, faced frequent power outages, overheating of electrical panels and high operating costs after years of using conventional comfort air conditioners ill-suited to its critical infrastructure. To address a heat density 6–10 times that of a typical office and the need for rapid, precise environmental control, the site engaged Vertiv for precision cooling (deploying Liebert PEX units and a Liebert Mini-Mate2 thermal management system).

Vertiv installed 32 Liebert PEX precision air conditioning systems (20–35 kW), a Liebert Mini-Mate2, intelligent Liebert iCOM controls, environmental sensors and provided engineering, installation, testing and ongoing support. The Vertiv solution delivered ±1°C and ±1% humidity control, enabled integrated remote monitoring, drastically reduced corrective maintenance and parts replacement, and produced electricity savings of 12% with no negative impact on availability or customer service.
