Case Study: Columbus Crew achieves seamless fan experience and zero downtime with Vertiv

A Vertiv Case Study

Preview of the Columbus Crew Case Study

Columbus Crew's New Stadium, Lower.com Field, Counts on Vertiv™ Infrastructure to Maximize Fan Entertainment

Columbus Crew opened Lower.com Field in 2021 with a goal to deliver a frictionless, high‑tech fan experience for 20,000 spectators, but had to do so with a small operations team and strict uptime requirements for ticketless entry, POS, digital signage and broadcast systems. To address that challenge, Vertiv was selected to provide the stadium’s critical infrastructure — including UPS, thermal management, racks, rPDUs, remote monitoring and KVM solutions — to ensure continuous operation of the fan‑facing and back‑of‑house systems.

Vertiv deployed Liebert GXT5/PST5 UPS units, Liebert DS/DSE cooling, DCE and VR racks, Geist rPDUs, Environet Alert monitoring and Avocent HMX KVMs across the data center and distributed IT closets (and nearby plaza/pub), with remote monitoring to reduce manual checks. The result: reliable connectivity for ticketing, concessions and broadcast systems (enabling the reported ~5‑second entry experience), no stadium downtime related to Vertiv infrastructure, a showcase data center for partners, and greater operational peace of mind for the Columbus Crew.
