Aircel, a Gurgaon‑based telecommunications provider with about 90 million subscribers, needed a reliable, cost‑effective way to harness growing structured data (10–15% annual growth) for timely business decisions. The company required a prepaid data mart capable of processing and analyzing up to 200 GB of summarized data and call detail records daily, with faster loading, querying and backups, support for ad hoc reporting within existing runtimes, and a sandbox for analysts.

Aircel implemented the Vertica Analytics Platform (integrated with SAP BusinessObjects and supported by Technology Services), which delivered much faster query execution, data loading and backup times in POC testing. The deployment lowered total cost of ownership, enabled concurrent MIS reporting and sandbox use, and scales simply by adding servers or storage—accelerating analytics, supporting a large customer base, and advancing Aircel’s prepaid data mart and monetization efforts.
