SysMech, a Reading, UK–based provider of next-generation service management for telcos, tackled the complexity of highly heterogeneous networks where dozens of traditional and value‑added interfaces produce late, missing or duplicated data. Competing single‑domain tools couldn’t scale or correlate information across network, customer and service layers, so operators needed a single, real‑time solution for visualization, automation, monitoring and analytics.
SysMech’s Zen platform, powered by Vertica as its principal fixed-data store, merges data from up to ~75 sources into one model and dashboard, enabling network‑wide correlation for hundreds of users. The deployment captures hundreds of billions of counters daily (≈100 TB short‑term), cuts hardware needs to 1/10–1/20 of traditional databases, saves engineering teams up to two hours per person per day, reduces alarms by 80–90%, and enables ML-driven predictions and automated optimization.
