A Vertica Case Study
Sportium, Spain’s leading betting provider with more than 3,000 points of sale and ~350,000 daily transactions, needed to become truly data-driven as it expanded internationally. Legacy, third‑party BI systems and Excel-based analysis left data siloed, insecure and limited to static reports, so Sportium required an in‑house solution to consolidate multi‑channel data, enable real‑time analytics, and integrate CRM and other sources.
Sportium selected the Vertica Analytics Platform for its horizontal scalability, on‑prem deployment and fast query/load performance, and built a consolidated data warehouse fed by Pentaho and surfaced through Tableau. The result is a secure, self‑service analytics environment (about 400 Tableau workbooks) that handles billions of rows, provides real‑time reporting to franchisees and partners, improves customer data protection, and supports future initiatives like CRM integration and in‑database predictive analytics.
