Case Study: Espresso Services achieves accurate automated sales tax and reduced manual workload with Vertex Inc.'s Cloud Indirect Tax

A Vertex Inc. Case Study

Preview of the Espresso Services Case Study

Espresso Services - Customer Case Study

Espresso Services, a full‑service importer and distributor of commercial espresso equipment, was struggling with inaccurate sales tax calculations using NetSuite’s native tax tables; customer service and accounting staff had to manually adjust taxes for exemptions and jurisdictional rules. To automate tax calculation and reduce manual workload, Espresso Services selected Vertex and implemented Vertex Cloud for NetSuite (Vertex Cloud Indirect Tax).

Vertex integrated Vertex Cloud Indirect Tax with Espresso Services’ ERP to use item and customer variables, product classes, and continually updated taxability rules, allowing the company to exempt or tax items by customer type (e.g., exempt resold food ingredients but tax equipment). As a result, Vertex helped Espresso Services close months faster, reduce manual tax adjustments and customer inquiries, virtually eliminate the need to process sales tax credits, and lower audit exposure while enabling non‑tax staff to manage tax settings.
