Harleysville Insurance, a regional property and casualty carrier founded in 1917 with about 1,700 employees and 1,300 agencies across 32 states, needed to modernize its commercial underwriting document and workflow capabilities. The challenge was to implement an enterprise workflow that would support 1,400 users across 16 locations, integrate with legacy mainframe and client/server systems, and handle extensive backfile conversion while managing significant change across the organization.

Harleysville implemented Vertafore ImageRight along with ReferenceConnect and TransactNOW, integrating the solution with existing systems (using AFP-to-image conversion tools) without new hardware and rolling it out to underwriting and claims operations. The result was enterprise-wide, real-time access to policy information, tight desktop-workflow integration, improved customer communication and operational efficiency, reduced paper storage and floor space, and support for a major organizational realignment.
