Case Study: Ryanair achieves scalable cloud data management with Version 1

A Version 1 Case Study

Ryanair scales 70TB of data on Microsoft Azure with Version 1

Ryanair, Europe's largest airline group, faced significant challenges managing its rapidly expanding IT infrastructure and over 70TB of data from more than 80 sources. Their legacy systems could not keep up with the volume of transactions, and maintaining physical infrastructure was draining resources. To achieve high-performance, flexible data control, Ryanair selected Microsoft Azure for a cloud migration and turned to vendor Version 1 for their expertise as a Microsoft Gold Partner.

Version 1 designed and implemented a scalable big data platform on Microsoft Azure to address Ryanair's needs. The solution utilized Azure Data Factory to build data ingestion pipelines, Azure Data Lake as a centralized data store, and Azure Synapse Analytics for enterprise data warehousing. The migration was a resounding success, giving Ryanair on-demand scalability to meet fluctuating demand and freeing its IT team from infrastructure management to focus on innovation. Version 1 ensured the project minimized disruption and also upskilled Ryanair's team to maximize the platform's ongoing value.
