Case Study: Cafcass improves child-friendly communication with Version 1 and Scribe

A Version 1 Case Study

Cafcass transforms 80,000 monthly letters with Version 1

Cafcass, a public sector organization in England that represents children in family court proceedings, faced a challenge with inefficient and unclear communication. Their Family Court Advisors were spending excessive time manually editing over 80,000 letters each month from more than 100 templates, which often lacked clarity for children and families. They partnered with Version 1 to develop an innovative solution that would save time and improve inclusivity without the AI writing letters directly.

Version 1 developed a proof of concept called Scribe using Microsoft Azure AI services. Integrated into Cafcass's existing ChildFirst system, Scribe helps advisors generate hyper-personalized and accessible letters by pulling key data and tailoring language to each child's comprehension level. The solution from Version 1 significantly reduced manual workload, freed up advisors to focus on supporting families, and ensured communication was clear and meaningful for all children, including those who are neurodiverse or have language barriers.
