Southeast Texas Medical Associates - Customer Case Study

Southeast Texas Medical Associates (SETMA) is a privately owned medical consortium that wanted to strengthen security for patient data and reduce the burden of managing multiple usernames and passwords across its clinical systems. To address this challenge, SETMA evaluated two-factor authentication options and selected Versasec’s vSEC:CMS S-Series for smartcard credential management, alongside Gemalto IDPrime smartcards.

Versasec helped SETMA deploy a converged smartcard for both physical and logical access, enabling physicians to use one badge to enter facilities, log into shared workstations, and automatically log out when the card is removed. The solution improved convenience, reduced password sharing risk, streamlined access across applications and locations, and gave SETMA a centralized way to manage the full smartcard lifecycle while strengthening compliance and patient trust.
