WorkNC Dental Manages Automation for DESS

Dental Smart Solutions (DESS), founded in Barcelona in 1947, manufactures dental implants and prosthetic solutions for customers in 30 countries. Producing highly customized implants requires complex prototyping and milling across soft materials, metals and ceramics with very tight tolerances and high repeatability, so DESS needed to automate machining, part positioning and quality control to meet rising precision and productivity demands.

DESS implemented WorkNC Dental CAM to automate machining strategies, blank positioning and support placement, using its Implant Manager to link exact surface definitions to STL prostheses and generate ready-to-run CAM programs sent directly to Roland and Robodrill machines over the company network. Combined with Hexagon DEA CMM for reverse engineering and QC, the solution sped production, ensured consistent high-precision results, enabled easy replication of customized prostheses, stored reusable strategies in the CAD/CAM library and delivered a fast return on investment.
