A Vero Software Case Study
Northern Maine Community College (NMCC) runs a hands-on Precision Machining Technology program that recreates a real shop-floor environment to address the industrywide shortage of skilled machinists and the misconception that modern manufacturing is unattractive work. The program’s live-work model—students fulfilling real customer orders while earning NIMS credentials—requires effective CNC and CAM training, but previous software had too steep a learning curve for classroom use.
NMCC adopted Edgecam, providing 32 weeks of milling and turning instruction with strong reseller support, enabling students to generate code in their first or second class and focus on real-world setup, fixturing and problem-solving. The result is more confident, workforce-ready graduates (many immediately employed), streamlined in-class learning, and enhanced ability to deliver in-depth, employer-relevant CNC training.
