Alpha Precision, based in Tubbercurry, County Sligo, is a 12-person injection mould manufacturer producing around 40 tools a year for automotive, medical, packaging and electronics customers. Faced with an industry-wide exodus of work during the recession, the company needed higher-end capabilities and a more integrated way to coordinate multiple disciplines—design, flow analysis, milling, wire and spark erosion—to stay competitive in premium markets.

Alpha invested in a near-complete VISI CAD/CAM suite (modelling, analysis, mould, 2D/3D/high-speed milling, wire and electrode systems), creating a single, shared workflow that links design through machining. The integrated solution enabled greater automation, faster cycle times (machining some cavities in a night instead of a week), micron-level finishes with high-speed spindles and Makino/Röder/Charmilles/Mitsubishi equipment, and a clear competitive edge in high‑end medical and automotive tooling.
