Vero help reinvent the wheel

Lamiflex Group, an Italian leader in technical composite laminates, teamed with designer Luca Schieppati in 2009 to produce Ciclotte, a luxury exercise bike with an ultra‑modern carbon‑fibre wheel and complex organic surfaces. The project demanded precise 3D virtual assembly of over 60 components and advanced tooling for carbon parts, but the company’s existing parametric CAD proved restrictive for freeform shapes and 5‑axis machining preparation.

Lamiflex implemented an integrated VISI CAD/CAM suite (Modelling, Analysis and Machining with Compass Technology) to design and manufacture the composite moulds and program 2–5 axis CNC finishing. Mould CAD work for the wheel and handlebar was completed in under 100 hours, kinematic simulation ensured collision‑free toolpaths, and the new workflow eliminated parametric limitations—streamlining production, reducing errors and boosting overall productivity.
