A Vero Software Case Study
Family-run Sharnold Ltd, a Northamptonshire subcontract mould maker established in 1957 and now operated by four staff, was struggling with increasingly complex CAD parts and lengthy design cycles that could take up to a week. The business needed a way to check model integrity, handle tricky split lines and slides, and meet tight tolerances for both in-house and contract moulding work.
By adopting VISI for mould design and WorkNC for CAM, Sharnold streamlined core/cavity separation, draft analysis, shrinkage application and plate handling, with seamless transfer of files to generate toolpaths in moments. The change cut design and machining time by at least half, reduced overall tool production time by about a third, consistently achieves tolerances down to ±0.05 mm, and supports their output of roughly a dozen mould tools a year and 100,000 parts per month.
