A Vero Software Case Study
CMD Ltd, an ergonomics and power-industry manufacturer, relocated its sheetmetal production to its Rotherham headquarters and faced the challenge of bringing outsourced fabrication in-house while improving speed, cost and flexibility. Designed parts were transitioning from 2D to 3D in SolidWorks, and the existing proprietary punch software limited rapid prototyping, bespoke work and efficient programming of their Trumpf TC 2000 punch press.
The company installed Radan (Radpunch, Radnest and the Design-to-Manufacture link) to automate tooling, nesting, sequencing and machine code generation directly from SolidWorks models. As a result CMD now programs the press far more automatically, produces items quicker and cheaper, handles bespoke and prototype runs easily, and has brought the majority of sheetmetal work back in-houseāsupporting 20 new catalogue products (including an improved in-house CPU trolley) and faster customer turnaround.
