A Vero Software Case Study
Shine Food Machinery Ltd is a UK commercial kitchen manufacturer that produces thousands of bespoke sheet‑metal components per year, delivering projects from design through manufacture and installation. Their challenge was ensuring consistent grain direction and correct top‑face orientation across many parts: Radan’s automatic nesting would sometimes rotate panels to optimise material use, causing wrong-facing parts, assembly errors and costly scrap.
Working with Radan, Shine implemented a bespoke “F‑Stop” macro (a 5mm F placed on the top face in SolidWorks) so Radan’s flat‑patterning and project nesting always respects the correct top face and grain direction. The change preserved material utilisation while eliminating orientation errors, dramatically cutting scrap, speeding up nesting (large jobs reduced from days to hours), improving remnant reuse and enabling automated labelling—so much so that Radan plans to include the feature in a future release.
