Radan Fixes Best Deal for Bosch, from Suppliers

Robert Bosch Packaging Technology GmbH, part of the Bosch Group, faced procurement challenges for outsourced sheetmetal components used in its packaging machines: suppliers were often slow to respond, returned incorrect or inconsistent quotes, and manual calculations caused pricing and planning uncertainty. With a small in-house production team, Bosch needed a reliable way to generate accurate, repeatable costings and select the best subcontractor for each part.

In a pilot project Bosch implemented Radan (Radimport, Radprofile, Radmanager and Radquote) to import SolidWorks models, automatically unfold parts, calculate laser time and material use, and apply predefined cost formulas for operations. The system fixes end prices (aside from supplier hourly rates), highlights each supplier’s strengths to place orders optimally, and lets Bosch send calculated quotes and STEP files directly to suppliers. Results include skipping the 5–8 day RFQ delay, consistent pricing and planning, reduced costs through smarter supplier selection, and stronger supplier relationships — with a potential global rollout pending pilot success.
