A Vero Software Case Study
Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, a UK cooker and oven manufacturer turning over about £120m and producing roughly 9,000 appliances weekly, was constrained by production inefficiencies: frequent downtime waiting for the right sheet sizes, time‑consuming manual nesting data entry, low material utilisation (as low as 60% on some jobs), and complex scheduling across 15 CNC lasers and punch presses handling some 500 different components.
By adopting Radan Project Nesting together with Radimport to automatically convert STEP CAD files into tooled, nested parts and to program both laser and punch machines, Glen Dimplex eliminated manual input, improved shop‑floor flexibility and standardised sheet sizes. Machine running times rose from ~70% to ~95%, sheet utilisation climbed to at least 88% (over 90% on their laser), scrap and storage locations were reduced, and data entry time dropped from a day to about an hour—enabling efficient production of ~190,000 parts per week.
